Commercial Benefits
One of our main aims is to service our clients with functional and profit driven genetics that fit our client’s targeted markets. To assist these commercial producers to turn off maximum kilograms of beef we have focused on fertility, calving ease and doing ability in our own herd.
One method of measuring our genetic trend is a herd comparison with the Angus breeds genetic trend. Graphs are produced and will be on display during Beef Week. Our herd excels in Calving Ease (direct% and daughter%) as well as Scrotal Size. All other measured trends for the herd mirror that of the breed average.
Many of our clients have also commented on excellent to exceptional conception rates(100% in one instance), many having achieved these with 14 month old bulls. One notable example involves a 14 month old bull joined to 46 heifers achieving 42 positive pregnancies, and in fact, this bull went on to achieve 100 natural pregnancies in his first 12 months of joining.
Clients continue to filter through feedback of excellent results with Riga bulls in many instances progeny topping larger weaner markets.
